Rode again today. A nice 22 mile ride culminating in a stop at Jamba Juice (That's what happens when we let [livejournal.com profile] cncrt_brunette plan the rides!)

So my total miles for the weekend give or take a wee bit due to the constant computer problems: 76.

Nice. Not bad at all, I say. As for my speed, it's hard to calculate a total average for today, although I made it to our meet up spot this morning (10 miles from home) in just 45 minutes, so that's about 13 mph avg for that stretch.

And I'm not hurting too bad today either, even after the long ride and the yoga yesterday. Hell, if I can keep this type of behaviour up, I'll have my body back in no time!

Although, the fact that I'm about to go scarf down half a pizza kind of counteracts all the exercise.

Had intended to do 50-55 miles, but we got a later start than I realized, and I had to get to yoga after the ride, so I called it quits at about 40. I say about because as of the 21 mile point, things had been going good. I'd maintained a 12.5 mph average.

Then I dropped my bike and effectively destroyed the computer.

I slowed down a lot on the second half of the trip, but still I can I think pretty accurately, estimate the total miles at about 40 and the total ride time at about 3.5 hours, which leaves me with an 11.42 mph average.

I'll do better next weekend.

And I'll allow more time between riding and yoga. Got home at 3:00. Was at the yoga studio by 4:00.

I'm going to go die now. Hopefully, I'll still be able to move by morning for the Sunday ride.

One way ride home from work. I somehow managed to reset my computer while taking it out of the bike bag, and I didn't have the instructions to recalibrate it, so I couldn't monitor my speed as I went, or measure my top speed for the ride. However, the ride time clock was still working, and since I know the distance, having clocked this ride before, I can still calculate my overall performance. And so, here we have it:

Distance: 14.2 miles
Ride Time: 1:08:42
Avg Speed: 12.39 mph

Whoot!!!!

Getting better. And not feeling the little climbs so much. I think the aerobics class is definitely helping on that. I'm not so much gasping for air at the top of every bridge and levee anymore.

It's going to be a long weekend of biking ahead of me. Preliminary estimates have me thinking I'll put a good 75 miles plus on the bike by the end of Sunday. Finances caused me to have to skip the kayaking tomorrow, but that's okay, because I get to do a serious distance challenge on the bike instead. I still want to try the kayaking this summer so if anyone is actually reading this is interested in doing that (beginners stuff out at the CSUS Aquatic Center), let me know and I'll organize a group.

Okay. Now, I'm going to go drink some juice and flop down on the couch and watch Stargate until I fall asleep. Which will probably be before 10.

A bagel and a Pepsi later, and I'm still very, very tired.

It's been a weekend of late nights, double bookings, lots of driving, and remembering those days way back when we could stay up until the sun came up and still function and feeling just how much older we are now.

It's said that exercise gives you more energy. For the last two weeks, my exercise levels have increased dramatically. But I'm exhausted. I'm too damn tired to do anything else. When does it switch over from exhausting to energizing?

On the plus side, the exercise is working. In the two weeks since I started my aerobics class, I've lost a solid 5 lbs, missing only two days of some kind of work out during that time. I've been highly inactive for the last three days (pogoing with The Kimberly Trip on Saturday was the high point on my physical activity scale for the weekend). However, I have a full week ahead of me. Aerobics Monday through Thursday evenings. I think I'll take my bike to work on the light rail on Friday and ride home. Then Saturday I'm kayaking in the morning, and probably doing Yoga in the evening. And finally, Sunday Bike ride needs to happen.

If I keep this up for the remaining six weeks of class, and continue to lose weight at this rate (which unless my plateau level has changed, it should be possible), I'll be back down to 145 by August, and I'll fit in my clothes again! Yay!!!

Distance: 15.14 miles
Max spd: not measured
Avg spd: 11.4 mph
Ride time: 1:19:34

Definite improvement in my average speed from last week. Last week, however, was a round trip ride, while this week was only one-way. Fatigue could play into that. Or, I'm just finally starting to get better.

Distance: 16.81 (+ a bit more... forgot to reset the computer until after I crossed the river at Hazel)
Max Speed: 26.1 (love them downhills)
Avg Speed: 11.4
Ride Time: 1:28:45
Number of bugs that got trapped between my glasses and my eye: 2
Number of bugs that got stuck to my lip balm: 3
Number of team members who were sick, buried in final school projects, still adjusting to life with a newborn, Kimberly Trip Roadies, or otherwise Missing in Action: 6
Number of strangers shouting encouragement as they passed by: 1
Number of exertion-induced asthma attacks at the top of the hill: 0

Good ride. Apx. 400' climb. Good practice. Definitely more gradual a climb than the one to Stevens Creek Reservoir, but if I get better at this one, I'll be more prepared for the other.

Round trip totals:

Distance: 27.35 miles
Max. Speed: 19.6 mph
Avg. Speed: 11.3 mph (well, I picked up a little speed at least)
Total Ride Time: 2:25:09

I'm going to sleep pretty solidly tonight. But first... Season 3, Disc 1 of "Six Feet Under" arrived in my mailbox today!!!!
mslulu: (Biking)
Stats:

Distance: 13.15
Max Speed: apx 16 mph, I think. (didn't calculate for this ride because I was enjoying looking at the 27.5 mph max from my coast downhill from Stevens Creek Reservoir too much to reset it.)
Avg Speed: 11.2 mph. gah, I'm slow.
Ride Time: 1:10:35

Actual time to get from work to home was closer to 1:20 though, due to stoplights and such. I'll take the bike trail home, which will cut out those pesky lights and traffic, but it also adds a little distance to the ride, so it'll probably take the same time to get home.

And I really need a trunk pack. Couldn't find a way to strap the backpack to my rack without squishing my lunch, so I wore the pack. Now, my back's griping at me.

Oy. Busy day. Donna's out today, so I have an extra busy queue to mind. This may be my only pause.

I think I need a root beer.

Seems the ride that nearly killed me on Saturday, if the information I've found is correct, was only about a 250' climb. WTF? I've made it to Folsom Lake with less pain, and that's a 400' climb. Maybe Folsom's more gradual.

Okay. This is beginning to piss me off. I'm going to spend the next several weeks mastering Folsom, then next time I'm in the bay area, I'm going to make it all the way up the Mt. Eden climb... which is only 470'. There's no reason I shouldn't be able to do that.
