My sister, Chryste is often concerned about the language skills of my niece Terra, because Terra is partially hearing impaired. She worries that she slurs her words and is difficult to understand.
While I was on the phone with Chryste the other night, I heard Terra talking in the background. "Remember Mommy, when we went to the doctor that time, and I had to get a shot and the doctor gave me a shot and it hurt real bad and I cried and cried and cried and cried."
I commented on how clearly she was speaking and that I understood every word.
"Great," Chryste told me, "Of course, she's lying. That never happened."
Perfect. She can be understood, she just can't be believed.
