Brief weekend summary & musical thoughts.

Monday, monday. Gar. Slammed. Taking my first break. Been here 3 hours already, will probably be here another 6 1/2.
Had a lovely holiday weekend, though. Left town around 7 on Thursday and reached Sunnyvale around 9. We spent most of our time just relaxing, knitting, watching movies, cooking, and playing music.
I started knitting a scarf for my niece over the weekend, and I made a lot of progress with it, but it's too wide and I'm really I'm not happy with it, so I think I'm going to unravel it and start over.
I got Kevin a Dubliners songbook for the holidays, and I took my keyboard down with me so we could play with it. We had a lot of fun with me working out the melodies on the keyboard and Kevin the chords on his guitar. He has a Beatles book, too, and while we were playing with that one, we stumbled upon "World Without Love." The arrangement in his book fits my range perfectly, and I was singing it along with his guitar and it sounded wonderful.
So, anyway, we were talking about this over the weekend, and I know it's been attempted in a couple of different combinations here in Sac already, so I'm putting it forth as a full on proposal. Who would be interested in a semi-regular gathering of wannabe musicians (more skilled musicians who have the patience to work with those of us who are new students also are more than welcome!) to fiddle around and see if anything that doesn't send cats tearing up the stairs can be managed? I'm finding that I definitely get something from playing with others, even if I'm struggling, that I don't get from playing alone, and I'd love to have a more regular opportunity.
