Oy. Today was definitely Monday. Not only was it Monday, but it was a cruel, mocking sort of Monday. Usually, when I import my files into the client system, there are anywhere from 4 to 29 files from each of three plans that can't be imported at all due to missing information. Today, of the three plans, I got a total of one error. As I stared at the nearly blank sheet of paper that represented my morning work, I was suspicious. It looked like my workload for the day was going to be ridiculously light. I might have even started to believe it, had I not been working with this system for a year now.

Not unexpectedly, once I hit Submit, to run all the imported files, all hell broke loose. Looking back at one plan, Hell had truely started to escape during the import process. For reasons unbeknownst to anyone, of the 134 files that should have imported, only 34 of them actually went. So, I had to load that one up again, import all 134 files again, then go through and find the duplicate 34 before submitting the whole batch.

Then, to make matters worse, on the other two plans, the system just decided it was too tired to work and it spit out nearly 300 files, claiming it was too overloaded to run them, please try again another year. (This happens from time to time, but it's usually only a renegade 2-5 files that get spit when it does.) So, my morning was spent going through the batches, taking down the account numbers that got hung up, and then having to manually resubmit all of them. (The manual resubmit part is actually easier than identifying the problem files, but I'm going for hate-my-job drama here.)

On the plus side, the day goes so much faster when I'm actually busy. On the minus side, there's a reason we have machines to do this stuff. When they don't work right, I get testy.

Oh, and last night, around 8:30, the headache from hell struck me, driving me to bed before even watching one full episode of The Dead Zone (there were two new ones last night, including the season finale). It came back around noon, forcing me to turn to a bottle of Pepsi for medicinal purposes. Guess I'm not as fully weaned off the caffiene as I thought I was. Sigh. I'll get this clean living thing down eventually. I just can't seem to manage going cold turkey. I'm almost out of bad food in my possession though, so as soon as that's gone, I'll be in much better shape.

Tonight, I bike to school to get my RT pass, then I come home and cook. Yes, that's right. Cook.
