Around 1996-97 I cut caffeine out of my life completely for health reasons. I eventually started allowing little bits back in, until I once again was consuming mass quantities of it on a daily basis.

Signs of the original health reasons have started to resurface indicating that I once again must say goodbye to caffeine. So, this will mean no more Cherry Pepsi, no chocolate, no Dr. Pepper, etc. I can't go completely cold turkey due to the Girl Scout cookies in my house that contain chocolate and must be eaten, and there's also a bottle of Mountain Dew which maybe I can use in small quantities for a few days until it's gone (I hate to waste it). But other than this, it's out. I stopped as of Friday.

Of course, when I did this before, I wasn't physically addicted to the stuff. I just quit, no problem.

The headache and the general oogyness have just kicked in.

I'm gonna be a little grumpy for the next few days, I think.

Or maybe exactly the right time! But on the issue of caffiene withdrawal, I've heard that a small amount of caffiene (like a couple of tablespoons of coffee) is enough to make the headaches go away so that you can wean yourself off more easily.

Yeah, I'm thinking that's what I'll probably use the Dew for. I'll have a small glass of it when I get home to get me through my yoga class, then no more for the day. (since I don't like coffee)

re: point 1 ...

... nooo ... not the right time. As mslulu reminded me the first time I offered that -- I have a habit of saying REALLY snarky things at exactly the wrong time. Add a firearm into the equation and it would just not be pretty.

re: point 2...
I may need that info you just passed on -- because I'm REALLY addicted to caffiene (it's ONLY one or two cups in the morning ... ok, ok, so they're 48oz cups... big deal). On weekends I'm unconscious until I force-feed myself brain-lube. I too need to scale back... or more likely, scale OFF... of the stuff.

re: point 3 ...
Yes I know there IS no point three. But damnit, I'm not doing work-related writing. Why am I writing in bulleted lists? ... grrr...

Mine are primarily female in nature, but I know the stuff can contribute to all sorts of icky problems regardless of gender.

no chocolate?!? You poor soul! *hug* I wish you luck, I know I wouldn't have the strength to try that myself.

I won't actually miss the chocolate much. I'm not a big fan of it. Now if I suddenly had to cut cheesecake out of my life... I don't think I could do that.
