mslulu: (Demon Head)
Last night began the "Car? Bah! Who needs it?" phase of my existence. Leaving the Blackbird parked along the road, I mounted my bike and pedaled my ass to my piano class. Naturally, it was windy. It's not a bad ride, except for that last little stretch turning from 24th onto Sutterville. Cars in this city don't like to share the road with bikers. It took me a little over 15 minutes to get to campus, then another 15 to lock up the bike and clean up and change clothes. The ride back was interesting. It was actually kind of chilly when I left campus around 7. Not getting dark yet, but the sun was low enough that I still felt I should turn on the headlight for the extra visibility.

Class itself was dull. I pretty much ignored everything she talked about and demonstrated and practiced the pieces that were more at my level. I also played a little with adding chords to the single staff pieces at the beginning of the book. (Not difficult, but takes a little more thought for me when it's not written out.)

Today, I got up a half an hour earlier than normal so I could take light rail to work. I need to work on being more prepared. I was really pushing it, getting my lunch together and all my necessities in my backpack instead of my purse. Then I couldn't find Lulu in Hollywood, the book I've been reading at work. I went out to my car to see if I left it there, but no, it was nowhere to be found (until I got to work, that is, and discovered it still sitting on my desk). So, I grabbed something else to read on the train. Next, I couldn't find my work ID. Easier to track down as it was in my car. I rushed to the stop and proceeded to wait 5 minutes before the train showed. Oh well, at least I didn't miss it. The nice thing is, if for some reason I do ever miss the train, I'll still be able to walk back to my car and get to work with time to spare.

In addition to saving gas money and the environment by taking the train, there's another advantage. I'm currenty sitting here at work. I have no car and 85 cents. The only things I can eat are a banana, a peach, organic oatmeal, natural granola bars, rice cakes, and a turkey sandwich I made (with the last of my questionably healthy deli meat). And water. Nope. No way to give into the craving for bad food. This is good. Now if Roomie will only stop taunting me with pizza and Cherry Pepsi, we'll have something. :)

Tonight, I finally cook. I meant to on Monday, but after I got home from campus and the co-op, I realized I had forgotten the eggplant. (For a twisted look into my psyche, as I write this, I'm hearing Robbie Benson in Ice Castles saying "We forgot about the eggplants!" Anyone familiar enough with the movie to know what the actual line is and thus why this is striking me as hilarious?) Last night, after riding home from class, I was too tired to cook, and, well, roomie was taunting me with pizza. So tonight, I cook. I don't have anything else to do.

[livejournal.com profile] ktbee, I don't think I'm gonna be able to do yoga this week.
