4 nights left
Aug. 24th, 2004 08:03 amMy new bed will be delivered sometime Saturday. That means only 4 more nights on the horrible evil springy mattress of death and doom. Well, okay, I'll admit, it hadn't really occurred to me just how bad my bed was until poor Kevin began waking up in pain.
I've never had a good bed. Ever. If you trace my history of mattresses, even starting as a child, I don't know where my father obtained the matresses we slept on, but I guarantee you, he didn't pay much for them. In Norway, I had a foam mattress on a wooden platform, which I alternated with a waterbed in the basement bedroom. Back in Sacramento with my dad again, he obtained my bed from the Salvation Army. In San Jose, it was a thin foam futon on the floor. In Oakland, it was a crappy bed with springs poking through. Then there was the dorm mattress at Cottey (I think this may actually be the best quality bed I've slept on for any length of time), then back to a futon on the floor for a while, then I got the mattress I'm currently sleeping on, which George had bought at a discount place for about $100.
I'm actually really excited about this. And I'm wondering if all those minor aches and pains in my back that I've always considered normal aren't really normal.
So yay for the new bed! Only four more nights on the old crappy bed!
If you need me Saturday, I'll be sleeping. :)
