Happy Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] gypsykevin, but also Happy Anniversary. For it was 10 years ago tonight that Kev and I both randomly decided to go to The Rocky Horror Picture Show in Overland Park, KS, and met for the very first time. We've both changed and grown quite a bit since then, but I'm glad the friendship has survived.

Happy Birthday, Luv! I miss you!

Whoops!

So I sat down to watch a little TV before class. Last thing I remember, Lee Stetson (code name: Scarecrow) and Amanda King were following some random threat to the security of the nation. Then it was 7:30 and I had slept through class. Oy.

So, I'm up, I'm having a glass or two of water, then I'm going back to sleep. Still really groggy, and I'm thinking I must really need it. Just as soon as I finish downloading the song of the day.

Solos

So, I've spent the last week considering what to sing in my voice class for my graded solos. I think I've got it. Well, I've got the first one down at least. The first, which can be any song as long as it's accompanied, and not "Happy Birthday" or "American Pie," I'm going to stick with what is probably my favorite song (if I had to choose just one favorite from all the songs out there),"In My Life," by John Lennon (technically it's a Lennon/McCartney, but that's just for those who think Paul doesn't get enough credit.) However, I'll be doing Bette Midler's arrangement of it. It's in a little higher key and it's slower. While I kind of prefer the faster pace of the original, it's at the bottom of my range and I think I'll be better off if I stay away from the extremes for my first song.

My second song, which needs to be from a musical or a film, I'm still debating between "On My Own" from Les Miserables and "Home" from The Wiz. Les Miz requires less of an investment, since I already have an old karaoke tape, but I might be better off in general just buying sheet music for "Home" and doing it that way. I've got some time to think on it still.

But the first song is really only in two weeks. AAAH! This is not the same as Karaoke!
