Hrm. Torn.

I do like the idea of meeting new people, however, there are some things that make me not sure if I want to go this time. Last time was kind of fun, but it was mostly my own Inner Circle of friends who I usually hang out with. While that helps me some, since I'm so shy and need a metaphorical security blanket at times, it also didn't encourage getting to know anyone new. Of course, with the exception of [livejournal.com profile] ilk there didn't seem anyone there I really wanted to get to know, and worse, there was one in particular with whom I don't particularly care to share air space again at all. This time, while I know the list of attendees will most likely be different, I suspect (although no one's actually mentioned it) that the Inner Circle is less interested in going this time. It's also at True Love, which has never felt very warm and inviting to me. Which leaves introverted me to go wandering alone into a place where I've never felt terribly comfortable.

Hi! How nice of you to say that. Wish I hadn't been so shy and talked to you. I too am actually having an inner debate about tomorrow. Not avoiding anyone or anything... I'm just not feeling really social today. Maybe it'll change tomorrow. I'm really enthusiastic about the IDEA of these things, but on occasion I just prefer to stick to myself and my very tiny circle of friends. I'd say it's a 50-50 chance I'll go at this moment in time.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat except that since I don't much care for True Love (my hearing is bad enough on it's own) I probably won't be going.

Someone mentioned a "minumum" for the place. Is there some kind of drink minimum just for being there? Is it being waived for this gathering? If not, it's not a very friendly choice.

I imagine it is expected to purchase a drink if you're going to hang out there. I also suspect that establisments chosen for Meetup have little to no idea that there are gatherings planned there.

The minimum is for friday/saturdays, when you can either go out onto the back porch and hang out ... or pay the cover and sit inside with the live music. I imagine that during the week, there's no cover. But then since I live out in rancho, I don't get out to TL much during the week.

Also - Kevin Seconds (co-owner of True Love) is an LJ'er, and I think on the Meetup list ... so at least one business owner won't be surprised by a horde of internet people landing in his lap.

Coffee House with cover charge. Not cool in my book.

I know they have a door charge if there is music, but I don't know what their weekdays are like.

Cover charge only from abt 8pm-midnight weekends during shows -- and after midnight they sometimes have ANOTHER show as "waffletainment" to wash down possibly the best waffles in town.

During the week, as I'm told, no cover.
