Once on the American River bike trail, I was riding along at a decent pace, and--smack--some kind of stinging flying insect (yellowjacket, bee, wasp ... not sure) collided with my chest, and fell down into my sports bra stunned. I was clipped in and encountered some traffic congestion on the path just then. It woke up and started buzzing around in there, and I was near panic trying to navigate and avoid getting stung at the same time. I pulled the bra away from my body and it fell through--whew--at which point I discovered with alarm that my shirt was tucked in. I did manage to pull the shirt out, release the critter, and come to a stop without falling over or killing anyone, but my companions and several onlookers thought I was possessed, and I did get a fairly painful sting on my belly. Never did see the culprit.
Used to ride the Stevens Creek Reservoir road as a kid sometimes. I lived at Bubb & McClellan and kept my horse up there in the hills.
