It's coitans I tells ya!
Mar. 1st, 2006 08:12 pmLast night, I took a major step in decorating my apartment. Or rather, I took a major sit on the couch while watching
duncan_blkthrne hang curtain rods for me. But the curtains themselves, I put on the rods. Okay, so two out of three windows involved simply running the rod through the tab of the curtains, but the other... I'm rather impressed with my success. See, usually whenever I plan to do anything involving "draping" something, it never comes out right... like the horrid netting that used to hang across the canopy of my bed, yeesh. I have this issue with a lot of visual projects. I can get a concept in my head, but I can't execute it. My birdcage flower arrangement (yeah, the one that
mahdi hates), I knew exactly how I wanted it to look, but when I started to do it, it began to look like something a kindergartener would bring home to mommy. However, I was at least able to get my concept across to my friend Keith, who actually put it together to look pretty much exactly like I wanted.
So, when facing a curtain rod, two sheer panels, and one scarf, I began to worry. Panels are no problem. But just how does one get that scarf to hang right so it doesn't look like a five year old did it? It took several false starts and a lot of tugging and readjusting, but gosh darn it if it doesn't actually look half decent. Okay, so I'm still poking at one side of it which either wasn't quite right last night or got worse while I was asleep (I have cats, it could happen,) and the look isn't quite perfect for the space, but it will do. It matches my tablecloth and candles, and it was inexpensive. I'm not going to live here forever, but while I do, it's a much better alternative than the ugly bare walls with broken mini-blinds ends showing.
