Ow.

Had a good weekend. Got up at an early hour to head to Gilroy for the Garlic Festival. Met my friend James there and we proceeded to explore all the wonderful garlicky goodness of the festival. Once we had seen all there was to see and eaten all we wanted to eat, we ditched the crowds and headed out to Santa Cruz. See, it was discovered during the day that James has a definite appreciation for rollercoasters, especially wooden coasters. That meant he needed to be introduced to the sheer beauty and artwork that is the Giant Dipper. We played around on the clifs north of the Boardwalk for a while, then drifted into tourist hell, road the coaster, and promptly escaped the crowds. He was properly appreciative of the Dipper in all her 80 year old glory.

We had Thai food for dinner, then drifted into the Catalyst, originally for the live music, but after a few drinks, we ended up just sitting upstairs talking and meeting people all night. Come 2 am, Terri was way too drunk to even consider driving home, so we made it back to his hotel, talked for hours, then eventually passed out.

Morning came, we had breakfast, then I headed home sometime before noon.

The "ow" is the reason I'm not at work today. See, it seems that even 30 spf sunscreen can do little to protect the palest of white skin that has been exposed to the sun for the first time all year. My arms, being a little tan from the biking are okay, but my chest is burned to a crisp in the shape of the nice low v-cut neckline of the top I was wearing. I spent most of yesterday unable to move at all and feverish, and I got very little sleep last night. The fever broke sometime this morning, and I'm feeling a little better, but I'm having trouble finding clothing that I can wear that doesn't rub painfully.

I hate my skin.

I should try to get some laundry done today.
