Lonely

I have yet to make any real friendships here. I suppose that's mostly due to my introverted nature and that damned "smart" thing again. I tend to go to my room and read a book instead of joining in with the group study because, hello, I have no need to study every night for these tests. They're not that hard. I did go out to dinner last night with my roommate, Virginia and the Academy Pretty Boy, Brandon. I'd be annoyed that Virgie got the cute guy and I didn't (which seems to be the usual) except for the fact that the boy is young, and so horribly different that I barely understand him half the time (I'm pretty sure that just a few years ago, he was one of those kids with his pants hanging half way down his thighs). Major culture clash.

There are a couple of fun people. Melvin, the human garbage disposal. If you don't want part of your lunch, you just give it to Mel, and he'll eat it. I think he managed 10 burritos yesterday. And Charley, the little asian guy who sleeps through class and is always running to get to formation on time.

But there just doesn't seem to be anyone I really click with. Okay, so there are still 13 1/2 weeks to go. Maybe I'm expecting too much too soon.

I'm always looking forward to the weekends, even though once I'm home, it seems so rushed and that I don't get to see everyone I want to see for very long. I'm hoping it will get better.

Meanwhile, I'm in need of some Italian food and Karaoke before too much longer. Who's game?
