Shoe Suede Blues
Sep. 28th, 2002 02:21 amI am so glad I went to this show. It was amazing. Peter Tork is hot. I realize me saying this may somewhat invalidate my previous assessment of James Marsters as hot, since some might now doubt my credibility. He's just this really fun, wonderfully talented guy, and despite the fact that he's a good 25 years older than me, I'm incredibly attracted to him. But, aside from my little quirk, what I saw was a great band, with some really kick-ass musicians, that knows how to have fun on a stage. It was a long set. I think they got on stage sometime between 11:30 and 12, and they played until 1:30. They did a lot of cover tunes by some classic artists like B B King and Muddy Waters, mixed in with their original work, and a couple of Monkees songs for color. Pete was funny, and warm, and friendly. The crowd was small, and mostly well behaved. In fact the only bad parts of the show were audience problems... an obnoxious drunk guy dancing wildly and trying to buy Peter (an alcoholic) a beer, and then the more terrifying part - I'm pretty sure Bruce and Nine-a (deliberately misspelled to distinguish from
delrosan) were there. I think that was them, and he kept looking at me like he was trying to figure out if he knew me or not. But, didn't speak to them, so no real problem.
Anyway, the most important thing here is that I was so into the music, that I realized I'm perfectly capable of going to another one of their shows alone if I don't have anyone to go with me. I kinda left Nina alone in her seat to play fan-girl and get up close to the band. It didn't matter that I didn't have a companion up there with me. It was just me and the band and that's all that mattered.
So, I will see them again. And, if this means I have to take a solo trip to Santa Monica to do it, I will.
$15 well spent.
