And life keeps going on and on...
Jan. 17th, 2002 08:52 amOkay, I haven't been posting much lately; life's been a little distracting, but here's where I am.
First, I have a complaint against Otis Spunkmeyer. Yes, the Muffin company. I bought an individually wrapped Blueberry muffin from the vending machine yesterday. While walking back to my desk, I glanced at the nutritional information on the wrapper. Fat content was a little high, but nothing deadly. Same with all the other stuff. Then I noticed one annoying detail.
Serving Size: 1/2 muffin. Servings per package: 2
What person in their right mind buys an individually wrapped muffin and only intends to eat half of it? Why don't they just admit that the actual serving size is 1 muffin and adjust the nutritional information accordingly? Are there actually some sort of guidelines restricting what can be considered a single serving from the same folks who decide what the recommended daily allowances are?
END OF RANT
So, I'm not hating my job this week due to the free money they handed out on Tuesday. Free money is a good thing. It meant that after getting my eye exam on Tuesday, I could afford to actually get my new prescription filled. So, last night, I picked up my glasses and wandered the mall for a bit, enjoying vision. I then splurged a little at Victoria's secret and bought some pear scented bath/body products (thanks for the tip, Elli) and a couple of products in a different scent that I can't really identify the flavor (they call it Amber), but it's definitely edible. I also splurged a little at the software shop and bought a new computer game that I've been wanting for some time.
After that, I went to the hospital to see my dad. This was a bit tricky because he'd been moved out of Davis and I wasn't sure where he was. My first guess, Mercy General was correct. It was nice. My step-mom, Linda, wasn't there, so it was just me and dad, and I had the first fully two sided conversation I've had with him since Christmas. He's definitely getting better. His right side is working better than it did before the surgery. He's alert and coherent. He's craving fast food.
At home, I talked to Chryste. I gave her the blow-by-blow rundown of this weeks Angel, since she missed it.
She gets here tomorrow evening. We're having dinner at the hospital with Linda and Dad tomorrow night. Then Saturday night, she wants to do something semi-social after 9:30, 10 when Terra goes to sleep. She suggested getting drunk in a dark place surrounded by strangers. I think I've convinced her that that's not a great idea unless we have someone to drive us home. Not to mention it's expensive. I'd like for her to meet some/most/all of my friends. Any suggestions?
