Am I really the only person out there who can summon no interest whatsoever in seeing I, Robot, even at matinee prices?

I'm not interested, either. I mean if everyone and their grandmother wanted to go out one evening and watch it, I would go grudgingly, but otherwise...

I actually kinda like Will Smith summer movies. sure, it's brainless, but sometimes yer in the mood for that.

And besides, it started in 10 minutes where Shrek2 started in 45, so it won the draw. :)

I know that the movie has essentially NOTHING to do with anything Asimov wrote.

That is essentially incorrect. As I wrote in my own journal, the seed of the story is in one of Asimov's robot stories, and other elements of his robot stories show up throughout the movie.

No. I had a hell of a time trying to get someone to go with me, and finally just went to see it alone.

BTW, when you put in your Current Music field: "Ken - typing in the next cubicle" - is that still the same dorky Ken that was there when I worked at NIA?

Check yer email, NIA lady. I need an auth and your stupid RadMD site is down....grr.

That man frightens me.

Saw it. Was good.

No, it's not exactly Asimov, not even close, really, but it has more Asimovian elements than I had come to expect. The sort of main point and depth of characters was surprisingly there.

Also, Alan Tudyk is intense as Sonny and it's neat to see (hear?) him being serious once in a while.

My biggest issue with the film is posted here:

It's good to know I'm not the only one concerned with racism and general industry issues where movies get away with treated minorities so badly!!!

I guess my lack of interest in Sci-Fi really takes over. I have no interest in Asimov, so the degree to which his elements were used has no influence. I think I actually don't like robots. I guess that makes me a bigot? :)

I enjoy Will Smith, but his presence in the movie doesn't outweigh the other elements which turn me off to it.

Your a robot racist! :)

"you're", dear.

Don't kill me! I couldn't resist! Ow! OW!

Hahaha. For someone getting anal over someone else's gramatical errors, you should have reread your post. To be correct, you would have had to typed, "It is spelled, you're, dear." =)Heehee. Sorry, I had to be a silly ass.

And even that is incorrect, so let's just go play with our corsets, mm?

[identity profile] vampirejew.livejournal.com 2004-07-21 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I noticed my error, after I posted. LOL

Oohhh..corset playing? weeee

[identity profile] vampirejew.livejournal.com 2004-07-19 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
MEH..I'm interested in the movie itself. The fact that Will Smith is in it, makes it more appealing to me. What can I say? He's good.
I've not read Asimov yet. I just like sci-fi and it seems like a cool movie to see. Especially on big screen.

[identity profile] erisian-fields.livejournal.com 2004-07-20 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. I'm not all that gung-ho to see it either. I stopped reading Asimov, whose writing I liked when he started trying to tie all his series together. Bleah. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like anyone else's take on old Isaac's work.

[identity profile] zevblue.livejournal.com 2004-07-20 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Saw the pre-views, I'm not excited about it. I mean I like Will Smith and all, but facing another robots-kill-humans movie just leaves me cold. Bleah.
