More Music Stuff

I went in search of sheet music yesterday because the stuff in my mom's collection was just too dated for my taste. Funny, it turns out dated wasn't so much the problem. Her collection just isn't to my taste. I bought 5 pieces of music. Four of them -- Billy Joel's Piano Man, Elton John's Candle in the Wind, Patsy Cline/Willie Nelson's Crazy, and Mack the Knife, are just as old, if not older than Mom's stuff. The only modern piece I bought was Come What May from Moulin Rouge.
On the neat side of things, I played through each of the pieces last night to see how hard they were. I'll have to work at all of them to really learn them, but what I discovered while playing is that I have definitely improved since I started my piano class. My music reading skills are better and it was easier to stumble my way through the first play of each of them than I remember ever stumbling through a new piece. It's kinda cool to be able to recognize the change, and realize I'm doing stuff and understanding stuff I hadn't been able to do before.
Need to register for next semester soon. Thinking I'm gonna go ahead and take the music theory course this time around.
